Passport to Flavor: Best Send to Friend Email Creative I've Seen
I got an email from a friend (okay, it was from a co-worker of mine), and it struck me as the best "Send to a Friend" email creative I've seen. Well, full disclosure is that we ( eROI) did the email and web creative, but sometimes it's nice to celebrate a great partnership with a client that produced a really cool website and email campaign. As you can see from the above creative, the email is from Kettle Foods which just launched its Passport to Flavor campaign today. The email creative reflects the early 1900's old-world traveller feel to it where you might find an authentic ink stamp on a postcard or even your passport as you travel abroad. The site www.PassportToFlavor.com allows the user to send a unique postcard creative for each of the five outrageous flavors. Who ever heard of a Chocolate Potato Chip? Check it out when you get a chance and when you vote for your favorite flavor or buy the chips to taste these crazy flavors, you can be eligible to win a $4,500 travel gift certificate from REI Adventures: www.PassportToFlavor.com Posted by: DTB

Good Deed is Good Business
It must have been the euphoria of feeling the tropical sun and breezes on a family vacation (Christmas 2004) in Belize. A charismatic guide and president of TIDE Belize (an environmental conservation group), Wil Mahea steered our boat through the coastal mangroves in a remote section of Belize and talked of the progress his group was making in restoring fish, bird, Howler monkey, and even panther habitat. My 2-year old daughter (at the time) was taking in all the sites and sounds and she wanted to get closer to see the monkeys. When we did, she clung to me like white on rice and motioned to back away as the booming sounds of the Howlers scared her. By the end of the day, I was sold on Belize, on Wil Mahea, and on the good things that TIDE Belize was doing. I offered to help build them a website. I didn't think they'd take me up on it, but 3 months later, Wil gave me a call and we re-designed their non-functioning site. A few minutes ago, I got an email from a past client and it goes to show that charitable acts are good for business and good for the soul. It also goes to show that THE WORLD IS FLAT! Her email below: "I have a funny small world connection for you. On our recent honeymoon to St. Lucia (Sandals Grand Resort) we struck a conversation with a fly fisherman guide from Costa Rica. We mentioned we were from Portland and he told us that EROI and Ryan Buchanan had done his website after he guided your family on a trip. He said that his website is amazing, and that his business has increased immensely because of it. Just thought I’d share the small world connection and let you know how happy he is with his site and the success that you helped to create." Posted by: DTB

We Wear Short Shorts - Office Olymics Video
Out team at eROI (okay our CEO) really wanted to get into the holiday spirit and something went terribly wrong. Somehow, he ended up in short shorts looking like John McEnroe in the 70’s without the hair. This video is troubling but strangely amusing - check it out if you get a chance and let him know how you feel about it. It may become a living site with future Office Olympic Events (image chair luge, drunken trike races, garbage can hurdles, or even the dreaded printer deadlifts). But without your vote, it could die on the office floor. www.wearshortshorts.com Don’t forget to vote on what Office Olympics event we should do next. The “Drunken Tricycle Race” seems to be leading the pack, but don’t let that influence your decision. Check out the full site (if time allows). Here is what some people have voted for as the next Office Olympics event: Paper Snowshoeing (insert foot into plastic band) Office capture the flag! office dodgeball office tetherball office kickball
Come up with your own event. Tell us what you want. www.wearshortshorts.com Posted by: DTB

Q3'05 eROI Email Statistics by List Size Study Released
Just an FYI, we released our new study this AM. Look for it on MarketingVox today, eMarketer Friday and others in the days coming. Read the overview below, and get the whole PDF at our site. Get the PDFIn Q3 of 2005 we notice that the middle of the week is the low point, as far as read and click statistics go. Noticeable high points in the week occur on Sunday and Friday for both stats. So from this quarter we reaffirm again that sending volume is inversely related to how reads and clicks are going to react with the one exception of Saturday. Why is this shift in behavior occurring? As we close in on the holidays, consumers are beginning to think more of how they are going to spend their money this holiday season. While we anticipate these stats to start even out more as we come closer to December and through the new year, this behavior shows marketers are getting an early start and secure the consumer awareness and solidify a place in their, um, your, wallet. Overall By List Size This quarter eROI takes a different look at day of the week stats. When looking at aggregate stats we see less dramatic changes in read and click statistics and they are not always applicable to large and small senders. eROI decided to take a look at day of the week statistics by list size.
